Yay~! This is a really good series, I highly recommend it.
I was glued to the screen for every second. Now and Then, Here and There has a really great mature storyline, though for the last couple episodes~ it was like they didn’t know how to end it (it felt a bit rushed). This is the only thing that kept me from giving it a 9~ Now and Then, Here and There gets a very high 8/10 from me. ^__^
the story was realy nice but the end was a bit welll dunno not too good …
i’ll give it a 7/10
wee da best seires xD
omg this series ish soo sad D:*crys*
Wow I have watched alot of anime series but I have to say this is way up high on my list of must see anime I will have to buy this later on to add to my dvd collection.
Looking around i’ve seen reviews criticise the quality of the animation but in my opinion it has a very captivating touch.
The characters all seem to flow very well and the anime is extremely well written I would give it a 9/10 because of three minor details. (No spoilers in there)
1: The ending could have been put over another episode but I wouldnt go so far as to say its rushed so much as fast paced to make it flow well as an action type release from the build up over the series.
2: There is no elaboration on Lala-ru’s distant past it remains something of a mystery coupled with that her abilities limitations are not overly well defined that kind of thing sets this apart from Full Metal Alchemist(FMA) for me wheras in this I had the feeling some kind of problem could be solved with a quick flash of a special power in this series. Don’t worry if your reading this before watching the series there are no conveniently created devices that come out of no where to save the day and damage the plot.
3: I wanted a more Final Fantasy polish to the ending.
To put it simply this is a series you should priorotise watching!
There are no other anime recommended already for this one so I would go with recommending FMA and Elven Lied anyone else got any ideas for other series to recommend like this one so I can watch em?
I agree that this was a good series, what let it down was that the flow was a bit fast and it could have been played for drama more. As a result the conclusion is found lacking.
its an ok anime in my taste.
i prefer the happy love endings ^^
I agree with EQ, this one will go down as my of my top favorites. The animation and story kind of reminds me of “Conan, the Boy in Future” a great anime directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Although it is isn’t the best animation you’ll see out there, but the story sure makes up for that! Highly recommend! 5/5
their so ugly ;D
I give it a ten because i found it was well thought out, and i couldent stop watching it.
This anime was absolutely amazing. I have watched alot of anime in my time and this is the first that has ever brought me close to tears. It is very well written, (although the ending could have been better) and while watching it i got so attached to the characters that i just wished the series would go on forever. 9/10 and it would have been perfect if they extended the ending.
wow… amzing series, pretty depressing too. The whole thing gave me goosebumps and if it wasn’t for the old-style animation it would have been almost too realistic. I have to say though, I don’t see why so many people feel that the ending was too rushed. It all came together so perfectly (if somewhat tragically) in the end. 9/10
I think the reason people are saying that the ending was rushed is because they all wished for it to be longer :D
“Now and Then, Here and There” or: “don’t talk to strange women sitting on chimneys, if you know what’s good for you”.
Damn, this felt fine. I’ve been wanting to be pleasantly surprised by an anime for some time, and here I have it. On the other hand, seeing how the other comments and the review are pretty accurate and cover the most important points already, I’m in a bit of an awkward position to talk about it. So here are merely the points where I differ in my appreciation, as well as a few loose cents.
I found the artwork magnificient. Painted, not drawn. Painted with love and yet greater skill. This is handycraft; no CG has laid its dirty hands on it. Stupendous. The character artwork was much simpler and had that somewhat characteristic “comic” look from some series from the nineties; I found it to fit perfectly. Except maybe for that “Lala-Ru” chick, who looked like a zombie — but nevermind, she probably was one, for all I know.
The music wasn’t anything too flashy, but it fell perfectly in line with the rest; as ought to be an anime music’s wont, to underline and underpin the mood, not to stand apart.
I didn’t find the ending to be rushed; or at least not more rushed than the rest. It seemed to me as though the series went at an appropriate, constant pace, fitting for its thirteen episodes.
The review insists on how “dark” this anime is. Indeed, it doesn’t pull any punches. For the sake of being able to deliver those punches, the characters were sometimes contrived into acting in a silly and illogical manner, methinks, but… ah well. But surely, it’s quite brutal. I’d venture to say that this is the very type of series that have gained the artform that is anime respect and followers all over the globe: the mixing of a style that would be considered as something “for children” with themes and stories which to expose children to would in other parts of the world than Japan have been considered doubleplusunthinkful, yea, crimethink.
The series left some vagueness as to its morale. I didn’t like what the main character (Shu) stood for, so I appreciated that he was at least partly shown to be wrong and a hypocrite. But I would have preferred it to be more clear, so I’ll add this myself. I dispise pacifists. In times of war, throwing your weapon away is the stupidest thing you can do, and for all intents and purposes it amounts to cowardice. Pacifism is naught be giving up control over your destiny. When there’s such a simple rule you could follow: if a person orders you to kill someone, kill the person who gave the order. Think about it: if everybody did that, there would be no wars. And it’d make all powermongers and would-be dictators think twice.
Finally, someone ought to explain to that “Sara” that even without modern medicine, there are more efficient ways of abortion than hitting your belly repeatedly with a rock. And that, when someone shoots you with a gun and you’re looking for someone to blame, the first person to come to mind shouldn’t be the one who made the gun. How about the one who pulled the trigger?
Anything more? Yeah, yeah… TL;DR, I know.
Anyway. Great series.
8.5/10
PS: One point I forgot, but this comment is already too long: it irks me when stories present the leader of a large and elaborate organisation as being nothing but a psychopath. You can’t rule any organisation whatsoever if you’re nothing but a psychopath. Everytime I saw that “Hamdo” guy, I couldn’t help but think: how did HE ever manage to aquire himself a fortress and an army? Why does anyone obey him? This doesn’t make any sense! You can’t rule that big an army with one lapdog alone.
i like most other people comenting here have also watched alot of anime and ive got to say this is definantley a must-see reccomendations from me, Higurashi no naku koro ni, Clannad, kurokami, shakugan no shana, shuffle! kanon 2006, i have seen hundreds of seriese their are more but i dont feel like typeing them all. :D 8.5/10
