Plot Summary: Somewhere in the vast sea of the Internet, there’s a website that can only be accessed at the stroke of midnight. Known as the Jigoku Tsushin, rumor has it that if you post a grudge there, the Jigoku Shoujo will appear and drag whoever torments you into the inferno. Very little is known about the girl - all we know for sure is that she lives with her equally enigmatic grandmother, that three magical straw dolls accompany and serve her, and that whenever a posting on the Jigoku Tsushin moves her, she becomes the Jigoku Shoujo.

OH MY GOD ok.. really.. this is one great anime i was shocked at how good it got I recommend this anime to anyone RLLY watch this ppl you wont regreat it 5/5
Repetitive, boring, and completely unsatisfying. Watch only if you enjoy weird, pointless imagery and evil loli.
I love horror manga and anime, so I’m generally very accepting of them, but this one just didn’t capture my attention. I admit that I only watched two episodes. However, just by looking at those two I can tell that the stories move ridiculously slowly and that the rest of the series isn’t going to be scary.
It’s not bad, but compared to other horror series I’ve seen, (Uzumaki, Higurashi, Gio, almost everything by Junji Ito) this one just is not scary enough. If I were not such a veteran to horror, I’d probably semi-enjoy it.
Jigoku Shoujo is, in my opinion, very difficult to rate or to recommend. The storyline of season 1 and 2 itself is brilliant as well as the animation, characters and the music in particular seemed completely satisfying to me.
However not only the story is sad: The fact of the story development being as slow as a taped down slug simply can’t be denied, which tragically drags down the overall impression of this anime.
For about the first 15 episodes of each season, there’s practically no moving forward at all. The structure of the episodes stays exactly the same and jumps between random (more or less) tragic cases, where Jigoku Shoujo is contacted.
With this in mind it is no surprise that eventually the viewer gets bored instead of scared by any of these cases/revenges, the image of the anime becomes a tragedy itself, for it is a great show spoiled by being a drag.
Something I’d like to mention particularly is the background music, which I really adored, however, since it’s repeated in every episode as well, I was only able to really enjoy these themes for the first few episodes.
Considering everything, I really enjoyed watching this anime, although twelve-episode-seasons would’ve been much more reasonable.
[Haven't watched season 3 yet; Of course it's a personal opinion!]
