Toei Animation has launched a website to announce its development of a TV anime series based on the popular card battle/dungenon crawler mobile phone game Tanken Driland (Exploration Drill Land) from developer Gree.

The June issue of Gekkan Shonen Gangan magazine that goes on sale this weekend will formally announce the development of a TV anime based on the Zetsuen no Tempest fantasy mystery manga series by writers Kyou Shirodaira & Arihide Sano and illustrator Ren Saizaki. The manga stars an ordinary high school boy who finds himself drawn into a supernatural conspiracy involving a missing friend and a witch. The ongoing manga premiered in 2009 and has six compiled volumes so far. Kyou Shirodaira created the 2000 Spiral: Suiri no Kizuna mystery manga that was adapted into a 2002 anime TV series.

Comic Earth Star Magazine has formally announced that Kagari Tamaoka’s 4-koma comedy manga Mangirl! will be getting a TV anime adaptation from studio Dogakobo (Yuruyuri, Koihime Muso). The manga, which presently has one compiled volume, depicts the daily struggles of “Japan’s cutest manga editors,” an inexperienced but ambitious team of girls who hope to develop Japan’s best-selling manga magazine.

The advertising obi found on new copies of the ninth volume of Touya Mikanagi’s action/fantasy/comedy manga Karneval reveal that an anime adaptation of the story has been greenlit. The ongoing manga premiered in 2007.

Mobile game company G-mode (Keitai Shoujo, Sengoku Paradise Kiwami) has announced its development of a multimedia project titled “Katayoku no Khronos Gear.” The sci-fi action story pits the teenage decendents of global heroes including Napoleon, Joan of Arc, Musashi Miyamoto, and Ryoma Sakamoto in a battle against invading aliens. The franchise will include a game and manga produced by G-mode and an anime produced by studio AIC. Tenchi Muyo & El Hazard director Hiroki Hayashi will helm the anime. G-mode’s cel phone games Keitai Shoujo & Sengoku Paradise Kiwami have both previously had anime adaptations.
