Plot Summary: Himeno Awayuki was a normal sixteen-year old girl until her father married a woman who happens to be rich. Since then, she has been perceived as an outcast by both her new stepsisters and her classmates. Later Himeno finds out from seven men called the Leafe Knights that she is something called Pretear, a girl who has the power to merge with and control the nature of the elemental-oriented powers from the Leafe Knights and stop an evil being called the Princess of Disaster.

Sixteen year old Himeno wants a happy life with her new family. She is feeling lonely as her dad is still in the honeymoon stage with his rich new wife and does not have that much time to be with Himeno. Her step sisters don’t seem to want to form a relation ship with her, especially at school. Himeno then encounters the Knights of Leafe, who tell her she must Pr�tear to defeat demons larva and ultimately kill the Princess of disaster. There is a twist later on in the episodes which I thought was pretty cool, the story was not just linear, it has a lot of angst and strong plot development. I really liked Himeno’s personality, her never give up, tomboyish attitude was pretty funny especially in her interactions with Hayate (love interest and leader of the Knights of Leafe).

Positives:
Graphics: I enjoyed the style of drawing I felt that the anime mixed old school style of drawing with the new.(e.g. the pink haired sister was funny and reminisince to Utana). They did an especially a great job on the 2 male characters, I thought the guys where pretty hot. Except for the gay narcissist looking one… (I love yaoi, but he just totally psyched me out). ..So for that I am giving the graphics 8 out of 9.

Relationships:
Great story, I love the way they build up the relationships between the characters and I liked how they kept the main character Himeno a tough yet girly character, I specially loved the interaction between her and brooding Hayate…I totally do the fan girl thing when Hayate blushes, it is so cute.

Negatives
Music: nothing stood out that I liked or was to my taste. 3 out of 10

The Girls: The way they drew the girls especially Himeno…come on she has got 2 cute guys around her and she looks pretty old school: 1971 style of drawing. I suppose it is the personality that counts?

Overall I give the anime 9 out of 10 I liked it enough to buy the DVD’S and for me that is a strong recommendation. This is a story about love and its many facets.
